Clean Heat Market Mechanism (“CHMM”)

The Government has confirmed that the CHMM will commence on 1 January 2024.

The CHMM imposes fines on boiler manufacturers who do not meet their targets for the sale of air source heat pumps. More information can be found on the Government website – www.gov.uk/government/consultations/clean-heat-market-mechanism.

To cover these fines, as has been widely reported in the press, a number of boiler manufacturers recently confirmed that they will implement a price increase, or CHMM levy, expected to range from £95 to £120 per boiler, from 1 January 2024. Whilst the situation continues to evolve at pace, we wanted to give you as much notice as possible that our intention is to be as transparent as we can and charge this as a separate line item equal to the manufacturer’s price increase, or CHMM levy, we receive. Price increases will be confirmed to you by your local contact or branch and will take effect on affected boilers supplied and invoiced after 1 January 2024. Boilers installed into newbuild properties will not attract fines under the CHMM.
